A $10 million investment in Place de la Cité

Quebec City, Wednesday, August 24, 2022 – The wait is almost over! Announced several months ago, the third branch will open on Wednesday, September 21, at 8 a.m. April from the greater Quebec City area will take place. Representing an investment of 10 million dollars and leading to the creation of 100 new jobs, some of which are still to be filled, the new health food supermarket will benefit from a prime location in the Sainte-Foy area on Laurier Boulevard. Avril will occupy the entire ground floor of the Place de la Cité complex and will be accessible from two separate entrances, those of the outdoor and indoor parking lots.
This third April in the region is also the eleventh in the province and the third largest branch of the independent Quebec chain. Covering an area of 36,000 square feet, the establishment will offer certified organic fruit and vegetable sections, groceries, supplements and cosmetics under one roof. In addition, there will be a food court with specialty counters, as well as a dining room and terrace with a total of more than 190 seats.
Improved customer experience thanks to several new features
The population of the greater Quebec City area has quickly adopted April, as soon as it entered the market a few years ago. With this new supermarket, it will be able to enjoy an even more comprehensive variety of healthy products: whether through the addition of a new bulk goods station, an increase in the food service offering or new specialty counters.

Located in a bustling area near the university, CEGEPs, several real estate projects and numerous offices, April Place de la Cité will offer a range of ready-to-eat food unmatched in the region. The branch will include a bistro (where it will be possible to have a bite to eat on the spot or take away), several specialty counters (prepared dishes, rotisserie, pizza, fishmonger, cheese shop, bakery, pastry shop and gelato) as well as a variety of ready-to-go products, cooked by the chefs of April made from healthy and delicious ingredients. To simplify the purchasing process, customers will now be able to pre-order the bistro’s products using the UEAT mobile app (developed right here in Quebec!) and pick up their order at a time of their choosing.
