Construction Updates: Tramway

April 17, 2026

From February 25, major works will take place in the underground parking lots of the Tour Cité (purple and green zone) as well as at entrance 5.

Ongoing Work

The TramCité project involves the development of a tramway line in Quebec City. Construction work is currently underway and may have an impact on the shopping centre.

On this page, you will find updates on the different phases of the work.

Traffic diversions et Mitigations measures

May 6 to May, 7 2026

Between 9:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 6, and 5:30 a.m. on Thursday, May 7, Boulevard Laurier will be completely closed to traffic.

The purpose of this work is to set up a detour route in order to ensure the safety of workers and minimize the impact on traffic.

May 4, 2026

For one day only, closure of both northbound lanes on Route de l’Église between Boulevard Laurier and Rue Jules-Dallaire.

Traffic will be maintained with one lane in each direction using the southbound lanes.
Closure of the sidewalk on the east side of Route de l’Église between Boulevard Laurier and Rue Jules-Dallaire.
Detour via the sidewalk on the opposite side.

 

April 27 to May 1, 2026

Work will take place east of the Ronald McDonald House (2747 Laurier Blvd.), on the south side of Laurier Blvd. (CHUL).

Starting April 27

The sidewalk on the south side of Laurier will be closed between 2747 Laurier Blvd. (Ronald McDonald House) and 2705 Laurier Blvd. (CHUL).

  • Pedestrians may use the crosswalks in front of CHUL and at the Germain-des-Près intersection.
  • Two lanes in each direction will remain open.

 

April 16–27

Construction work will take place at the intersection of Jean-de-Quen Avenue and Sauvé Street. This work is part of the first phase of the project and involves installing utility conduits beneath the future tramway platform.

Rest assured, the shopping center remains accessible, and traffic management measures are in place.

 

Starting April 16

Traffic lights will be removed at the intersection of Sauvé Street, both at the center and south of Laurier Boulevard.

  • Left turns will be prohibited in all directions.
  • Traffic on Laurier Boulevard will flow continuously.
  • Stop signs will be installed at the north and south approaches, where only right turns will be permitted.

Closure of the pedestrian crossing on the side of the construction site (intersection of Sauvé Street).

  • Pedestrians may use the crosswalks on Bernardin-Morin Street and the one in front of the Simons store (Place Ste-Foy).

Starting April 20

Traffic lanes on Laurier will be reduced at both intersections.

At the intersection of Sauvé Street:

  • There will be a single lane heading west and two lanes heading east.

At the intersection of Jean-de-Quen Avenue:

  • Heading west, a turning lane provides access to Jean-de-Quen Avenue heading south.
  • Heading east, only one lane remains open.
  • Left turns at the intersection are prohibited during construction.
  • A temporary ramp has been set up to allow access to Jean-de-Quen Avenue heading south.
